I am a psychologist and social worker, and I have specialized in mental health work with people who have disabilities, especially those who are Deaf (D)and Hard-of-Hearing (HH).
This site will provide opportunities to select, use, and contribute to research about, modular group work activities with individuals who have multiple disabilities and who are significantly or severely mentally impaired--for example,D/HH individuals who may also have Mental Illness, MR, Autism, PDD, etc.
That is, the group activities are designed to be conducted with a minimum of verbal explanation or description, and can be "self-evident", or demonstrated though means that are visual, tactile, or kinesthetic.
The group activities are also designed to be useful for single sessions or selections can be made to serve as a "curriculum" over time, to address desired themes or [treatment] goals. Thus they are designed to be used in a variety of inpatient and outpatient contexts.
